The Xentry Diagnostic Tool is a piece of specialised hardware loaded with Xentry DAS (Diagnostic Assistance System) software.

It is the full diagnostic system used to access and troubleshoot problems in any Mercedes-Benz vehicle and is the official diagnostic tool used by Mercedes-Benz dealerships.

What can the Mercedes-Benz Xentry Diagnostic Scanner Tool do?

The system offers complete diagnostic coverage of all engine, chassis and body systems. It can:

• Access and troubleshoot any system or control system in your Mercedes-Benz. It can activate any sensor in the car, perform an initiation test and stream live sensor data.
• Diagnose – all functions for diagnosis including reprogramming, configuration, initialisation, fault diagnosis and guided tests are contained within DAS (Driver Assistance Software).
• Read and delete the fault codes of all the computers on the vehicle and see in detail which faults are present, what causes the faults to occur and how faults can be repaired. Coding and adaptation of all new control units works via Pass Thru, which is linked online to Mercedes-Benz in Germany.

In simple terms, the scanner allows your Mercedes-Benz authorised garage to quickly find a problem, fix it and confirm that it is fixed by erasing the issue and then running another test.

The Xentry Diagnostic Tool is a very complex piece of equipment that MBS Exeter is fully trained and competent in using. All you need to do is bring your car to our garage and leave the rest to us.

MBS Exeter uses a BMW diagnostic tool called ISTA, which stands for Integrated Service Technical Application, that we are now thoroughly trained on and fully certified to use.

The ISTA program is the aftersales dealer diagnostics and reprogramming software for BMW vehicles and is without a doubt the best diagnostic system for BMW. It consists of several components that communicate with each other, offering various features and functions. ISTA offers powerful BMW and Mini vehicle diagnostic (ISTA/D) and reprogramming (ISTA/P) capabilities and has various options for vehicle identification, enabling highly specific information searches for repair and maintenance, guided troubleshooting, and software repair.

What this means for our customers is that when you report a fault with your vehicle, the first step is to check ISTA for any software updates relating to that fault. Errors or bugs can appear in the software manifesting as performance issues. Having this capability means that we can eliminate software issues before investigating a faulty component.

In addition to this, we also receive notifications of any known component faults or fixes for your vehicle, saving valuable time in identifying and fixing the problem for you, which in turn can save you money as we are informed in real-time of the requirements, tools and materials required.
